The Chairman House Committee on Defence, Honourable Babajimi Benson has commended the Military Pensions Board for the exemplary execution of capital projects contained in its 2020 and 2021 Appropriation Bill.

This commendation was given on 20 October 2021 during the visit of the House of Representative Committee on Defence to evaluate the Board?s
performance in regards to funds appropriated for execution of its
capital projects in the 2020 and 2021 Fiscal year.

Speaking further, Honourable Babajimi Benson noted that the Board has
not only displayed efficiency in carrying out its constitutional mandate
of paying the entitlements of military retirees but has also
distinguished itself as a responsible agency of government with the
impressive implementation of its capital projects during the period
under review. According to him, other Ministries Departments and
Agencies (MDAs) should come and emulate how well the Board has used the
taxpayers money.  The Chairman further noted that without any iota of
doubt, the Board has properly utilized funds earmarked for its capital
projects during the period. After the commendation, the Committee
Chairman urged the Board not to relent in its efforts but to continue to
be a standard for other MDAs to emulate.

Earlier in his brief, the Chairman Military Pensions Board, Commodore SA
Lawal analyzed and acquainted the legislatures with the status and
levels of years 2020/2021capital projects embarked upon by the Board
based on funds available.

He used the opportunity to thank the Honourable Chairman and his Committee members for their visit to the Board in actualization of their oversight functions. Commodore Lawal also used the opportunity to assure the honourable members that the Board will continue to ensure proper use of funds appropriated to it in the future. Highlights of the event include the presentation of memento to the Chairman of the Committee and a tour of all completed capital projects at the Military Pensions Board Headquarters.
