The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Department of Defence Transformation and
Innovation (DTI) has expressed satisfaction on the performance of the
Military Pensions Board (MPB) on the latter’s compliance with the Chief
of Defence Staff (CDS) Strategic Directive 01 of 2019.

The Director of Monitoring and Evaluation (DME), Air Vice Marshal HE
Eze, gave the impressive assessment, during the DTI’s second
transformation sensitisation/evaluation visit to the MPB in Abuja on
Tuesday 10 November 2020.

Speaking during the visit, Air Vice Marshal HE Eze noted that the DTI
team was delighted by the level of compliance witnessed at the MPB.
According to him, the Board has been able to perform at a commendable
level which is worthy of emulation by other DHQ establishments.

He further urged the leadership of the Board not to relent on its
mandates but rather continue to do its best towards ensuring effective
implementation of all its projections.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board, Commodore Abayomi Lawal, who
thanked the DHQ Team for the commendation, assured that the Board will
continue to ensure efficient service delivery in the execution of its
mandates.

He stated that in compliance with the CDS Strategic Directive 01-2019,
the Board has been able to complete the construction and equipping of a
composite indoor sports complex and the construction of 4 blocks of
transit accommodation for officers and men.

The Chairman noted that in the short term, the MPB intends to hold an
electronic verification exercise for military pensioners. “The
arrangement for electronic verification exercise of military pensioners,
within Nigeria and in diaspora, has been completed and the exercise is
to commence as soon as necessary approvals are gotten,” Commodore Lawal
said.

During the visit, the DHQ Team was conducted round the headquarters of
the Board. Places visited include the composite sport complex, new
officers transit quarters, newly-completed soldiers transit
accommodation and the old transit accommodation for officers which is to
be converted to office space in the medium term.
